After his graduation in 2006, Carey threw himself into the construction industry - and he hasn’t looked back. His first industry experience began under the floor of old houses in the Nelson area.
Since then, Carey’s passion for construction has only grown, and the goal of his career is to use that passion to help as many people as he can. In 2011, he completed his National Certificate in Carpentry while working on new residential housing.
Like many Kiwis, he opted to let his passion take him to the other side of the world for a few years, and found himself in London for four years.
Between 2012 and 2016, Carey worked for several well-established London companies to deliver anything from high-end residential renovations to commercial joinery fit-out projects. Carey approached these different tasks with his usual tactic: attention to detail and dedication. Which achieved high-quality results.
With a love for complex residential projects unlocked, Carey followed his Carpentry certification with a National Diploma in Quantity Surveying, which he gained in 2018.

Office
After his years overseas, Carey worked as a quantity surveyor and project manager in the Nelson area from January 2017. Here, he completed all aspects of quantity surveying and management on both residential and commercial projects, with contract values up to $12,5 million. When he wasn’t busy at work, he was working on gaining his National Diploma in Quantity Surveying, which he achieved in 2018.
When 2019 rolled around, Carey moved to Christchurch with the goal of focusing his work on the high-end residential housing industry. Carey was inspired to use his knowledge, passion, and industry expertise to help others set up their construction projects for success. In June 2022, he made this idea into reality, and CM Squared was born.
